Gadsden County Projected Versus Actual
A projected date estimates when a current term of custody may end under the rules that apply to that sentence. Florida's public FDC profile labels its practical field Current Release Date. State law uses the more technical term tentative release date for a gain-time projection. Neither label is the same as the historical Release Date that appears after an FDC custody episode has ended.
The distinction is vital in Gadsden County because the county includes a local jail and several state correctional facilities. The Sheriff controls a county-jail record. FDC controls dates for Gadsden Correctional Facility, Gadsden Re-Entry Center, Quincy Annex, and other state institutions. A move from the county jail into FDC custody is a transfer, not a community release, while a move between two FDC institutions is also not a discharge.
| Status | What it means | Where to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial at Gadsden County Jail | No sentence-based projected date; release depends on court action, bond, and holds | Sheriff record and Clerk criminal docket |
| County-jail sentence | Local term based on judgment, jail credit, and lawful holds | Jail records/corrections unit and judgment |
| Current FDC prisoner | Current Release Date may be computed and may change | FDC current-population detail |
| Released FDC record | Historical Release Date and out-custody history may confirm state discharge | FDC Release Information detail |
Gadsden County Release Date Terms
Similar labels can point to different stages of a sentence. Reading the label in its own system avoids a false date. FDC's current profile uses Current Release Date for the practical projection. Section 944.275 calls the gain-time calculation a tentative release date. Maximum sentence expiration is the full lawful term after custody credit, while a historical Release Date records an event that has already occurred.
- Current Release Date
- The public FDC field on a current state-prison profile, subject to change.
- Tentative release date
- The statutory gain-time projection for an eligible term-of-years prisoner.
- Maximum sentence expiration
- The imposed or combined term after lawful custody credit, before the tentative gain-time result.
- Date Out-Custody
- A historical FDC incarceration entry showing when that listed custody episode ended.
- Detainer
- A request or hold tied to another authority that may lead to continued custody or transfer.
These terms do not establish a release hour. FDC itself warns that location, status, and date information can change quickly. Local Gadsden records may use out-date, movement, transfer, discharge, or release language, so the destination field matters as much as the date.
Find Gadsden County Release Dates
Choose the path from the custodian, not just the person's location at arrest. A Gadsden booking may lead to bond, a county sentence, state prison, or another agency. Search by DC number for a state prisoner when possible. For local custody, use the booking or case number to avoid mixing people with the same name.
- Check the Gadsden Sheriff roster wrapper only to see whether the person still appears in current county-jail custody. Roster absence does not prove release.
- Open the Gadsden Clerk's criminal case inquiry. Read the judgment, sentence, jail credit, bond orders, amended orders, and any warrant or hold entries.
- For state custody, use the FDC Inmate Population Information Search and open the correct current profile.
- Read the Current Release Date exactly as shown. If it says TO BE SET, review is still pending; SENTENCED TO LIFE is not a calendar date.
- Use FDC Inmate Release Information for a person already discharged or scheduled for release, then check supervision if custody has ended.
- Confirm near the expected event with FDC Admission and Release or the Gadsden County Jail information line.
The official FDC current profile provides the field and its warning. View the manifest source profile to see how the state presents a Current Release Date.
The warning ties the date to later gain-time awards, forfeiture, or review. It should not be turned into a firm pickup time.
Gadsden County State Release Records
FDC separates current population from release information. The release search accepts first and last name, a six-character DC number, and an alias option. It is updated nightly. A released detail can show the committed name, DC number, birth date, aliases, photograph, county and case fields, sentence information, Release Date, and an incarceration history with in-custody and out-custody dates.
Open the FDC release search source and use the DC number when it is known.
This database covers people sentenced to state prison or state supervision. FDC expressly excludes county-jail-only sentences and county probation, so a missing state result cannot settle a local Gadsden release date.
The historical detail is useful after the event. The official example record shows the Release Date and out-custody layout without serving as a Gadsden County case.
A past state release still does not prove that all supervision or other custody ended. Search FDC supervised population and check any receiving agency when the record points to another authority.
Florida Gain-Time for Gadsden Releases
Florida Statutes section 944.275 requires FDC to establish a maximum sentence expiration date for each term-of-years prisoner. That date is based on the imposed or combined sentence less lawful custody credit. FDC separately establishes the tentative release date through gain-time rules. An award or restoration can move the tentative date earlier. A forfeiture can move it later, though it cannot exceed the maximum expiration date.
Offense date controls the gain-time framework. Basic gain-time of ten days per month relates to offenses from July 1, 1978, through December 31, 1993. Incentive limits differ for older periods. For offenses on or after October 1, 1995, the law generally permits up to ten days of incentive gain-time per month subject to eligibility limits. Meritorious or specified education awards may apply when statutory requirements are met, while listed serious offenses can be excluded.
The truth-in-sentencing floor in section 944.275(4)(f) prevents covered post-October 1, 1995 prisoners from receiving gain-time that results in release before at least 85 percent of the imposed sentence has been served. Actual incarceration credit ordered by the court counts toward that floor. It is still wrong to multiply every sentence by 0.85. Mandatory minimums, offense-specific rules, concurrent or consecutive terms, jail credit, later sentences, eligibility, and forfeiture can all alter the result.
Note: Florida's state-prison gain-time formula must not be applied to a Gadsden County Jail sentence without a local legal and record basis.
Why Gadsden County Dates Change
A date changes when a lawful part of the sentence, credit, custody path, or release decision changes. FDC's warning is broad because its public display is a snapshot. The county jail faces a different set of records, yet a court amendment or another agency hold can change whether the person leaves the building on the expected day.
| Factor | Possible effect | Record to check |
|---|---|---|
| Gain-time award or restoration | May move an FDC tentative date earlier | FDC profile and sentence computation |
| Disciplinary forfeiture | May move the state date later | FDC computation and public warning |
| Corrected jail credit | Changes the lawful time calculation | Amended judgment and FDC/jail record |
| Additional sentence | Can require a new combined calculation | Court judgments and FDC record |
| Mandatory minimum | Can prevent an earlier gain-time result | Judgment and governing statute |
| Detainer or receiving-agency hold | May turn local release into transfer | Jail movement record and receiving agency |
| Parole or conditional-release action | May establish, delay, review, or revoke a release path | FCOR final order and FDC status |
A court order can authorize release while processing or a hold delays physical departure. Conversely, roster absence can reflect transport to another facility. The record should identify both the out event and the next custodian before the movement is described as a community release.
Gadsden County Jail Release Dates
A pretrial detainee at Gadsden County Jail has no sentence-derived release date. Bond may be posted, a judge may order release, or the case may change, but another warrant or hold can prevent departure. The Clerk's docket establishes legal authority. The Sheriff's release or movement record establishes when local custody ended and whether the next event was community release or transfer.
For a county-jail sentence, request the judgment, term, jail credit, concurrent or consecutive structure, and any public hold disposition. Do not apply the FDC 85-percent rule as a shortcut. Gadsden research found no official county-jail good-time computation rule, no supported weekend-release rule, and no fixed local release hour. Those gaps should stay explicit.

Request Gadsden County Release Records
When the public display does not resolve the date, request the record from the office that owns the sentence or custody event. For the Gadsden County Jail, use the Sheriff Records Custodian request channel for the booking, custody movement, and release or disposition record. Include the full name, approximate booking date, booking or case number, release date and time, release type, legal authority, and any public transfer destination. Ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate.
For state prison, request the admission and release record, actual out-custody date, sentence-computation sheet, incarceration history, and public release authority from FDC. The online released detail does not display a release-reason field. FDC Classification and Central Records handles corrections to public offender information at 850-488-9859, while Admission and Release handles state release-date questions at 850-488-9167.
Florida public-record law permits inspection and copying subject to exemptions. It does not set one fixed response deadline for all requests. A narrow date range and clear identifiers can reduce search and redaction work. If the record owner withholds part of a file, ask for the releasable portion and the statute supporting the withheld part.
Gadsden County Parole Release Dates
Parole is not a generic name for leaving a Florida prison. FCOR handles eligible parole matters, and eligibility is often tied to older offense dates and statutory exclusions. Section 947.172 addresses a presumptive parole release date, while later Commission action can establish or change an effective release date, schedule more review, address a release plan, or revoke release.
The FCOR voting schedule and linked agenda can show that a matter was set, but an agenda is not an outcome. Check the FDC population, release, and supervision records after their nightly updates. When the result matters, request the final FCOR order or vote sheet. The separate Gadsden County probation and parole page explains the state and local supervision channels after release.
Confirm Gadsden County Release Changes
Confirm close to the event. FDC data updates nightly rather than in real time, and the Sheriff has not published a release-feed cadence. A VINELink notice can provide a timely signal for a specific person, but the reporting custodian's record remains the source for the actual release or transfer.
Use the person-specific VINELink Inmate Search to register for available custody-change alerts. Then compare the alert with the FDC detail, Sheriff release record, Clerk order, or receiving-agency result. A projected date is useful for planning, but it never guarantees a precise release hour or return to the community.
Note: TO BE SET means the state date remains under review; it should never be replaced with an estimate derived from sentence length alone.
