Gadsden County Release Records
A release belongs to one custodian. When the Gadsden County Jail ends its custody, the person may return to the community, enter Florida Department of Corrections custody, move to another jail, or be delivered to a federal or immigration authority. Each outcome removes the person from the local jail roster, but only one is a direct community release. The useful Gadsden County release record identifies the facility, the time its custody ended, and the legal event or destination that followed.
The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office keeps the local booking and movement record. The Clerk's criminal docket supplies the court order, bond action, disposition, judgment, sentence, or commitment that may explain the move. FDC controls state-prison release and supervision records. VINE reports agency-fed custody changes. Federal Bureau of Prisons and ICE systems apply only when those authorities are involved. A result from the right custodian is far more useful than a name match from the wrong system.
- Release
- The end of custody by one agency, which may be community release or transfer.
- Discharge
- The end of a custody or supervision term shown by the responsible agency.
- Time served
- A sentence satisfied in whole or in part through credited custody time.
- Detainer
- A request or notice from another authority that can affect where a person goes next.
Gadsden County Release Types
The event label changes the search path. Bond or recognizance ends physical jail custody while the criminal case continues. Time served or sentence completion satisfies the custodial part of a judgment. A dismissal or acquittal resolves a charge but does not by itself erase the arrest record. Probation, parole, conditional release, and community control put a person outside a secure facility while a supervision term remains active.
| Release or movement | What it means | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | Local custody ends while the case proceeds | Sheriff release record and Clerk docket |
| Time served or sentence complete | The custodial term was satisfied | Judgment, jail credit, and out-date |
| Probation | Community supervision may continue | Court order or FDC supervision record |
| Parole or conditional release | State confinement ends under conditions | FDC release, FCOR order, and supervision record |
| Transfer | One custodian releases to another | Movement record and receiving-agency locator |
| Dismissal or acquittal | The prosecution ends as stated by the court | Clerk disposition and Sheriff out event |
A furlough, outside medical trip, work placement, escape, or temporary movement is not a discharge unless the responsible record says custody ended. Death also ends custody but must be described with the agency's actual status, never as an ordinary release.
Gadsden County Release Fields
The Sheriff does not publish a field dictionary for released Gadsden County inmates. These are precise request targets, not a promise that every field appears in one screen. Ask for the public booking, release, and movement material tied to the known custody episode.
| Requested field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Committed name and identifiers | The record belongs to the intended person |
| Booking number and booking time | The exact local jail episode |
| Charges and case number | The link to the criminal court file |
| Bond type, amount, and disposition | Whether bond formed part of the release authority |
| Release date and time | When Sheriff's custody ended |
| Release type or legal authority | Why the out event was entered |
| Destination or receiving agency | Community release versus transfer |
| Detainer or hold disposition | Whether another authority affected departure |
| Booking photograph | The image tied to the booking episode |
FDC's state release detail is different. It can show the DC number, committed name, birth date, custody, Release Date, aliases, offense and sentence data, incarceration dates, and a photograph. That state record excludes people sentenced only to county jail or county probation.
Request Gadsden County Release Records
The Gadsden Sheriff Public Records Requests page names Sagen “Sam” Muralles as records custodian. Requests may be made by email, telephone, mail, or in person. The office is at 339 East Jefferson Street, Quincy, FL 32351, and the records number is 850-875-8817. Published hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
- Identify the person with a full name, birth date if known, and an approximate booking date.
- Add the booking or case number when available. This reduces the chance of a common-name mismatch.
- Ask for the booking, custody movement, release or disposition record, and specific public fields needed.
- State whether an electronic copy is preferred and ask for a cost estimate before work begins.
- If any part is withheld, ask for the releasable portion and the specific Chapter 119 exemption.
A narrow request for an existing record is best. Florida law does not require an office to create a new report or analysis it does not maintain.
No fixed Sheriff fee, guaranteed response time, or categorical retention term for this release record is published. Florida Statutes § 119.07 allows standard copy fees and a reasonable special-service charge when extensive staff or technology work is required. “Prompt” depends on the volume, redaction, and review needed.
Gadsden County Release Record Limits
Article I, section 24 of the Florida Constitution and Florida Statutes § 119.07 provide broad public-record access subject to exemptions. A standard one-sided page may cost up to 15 cents when no other law controls, with five cents more for a two-sided copy and up to one dollar for certification. Other formats may be charged at actual duplication cost. Extensive service can carry an added reasonable charge based on actual cost.
Juvenile files, sealed or expunged records, medical and mental-health material, victim information, presentence investigations, and security-sensitive facts may be restricted. A redacted field does not mean the release never occurred. Sealing or expungement can remove a qualifying record from ordinary public access, but relief at one database does not automatically erase every local file or lawful publication. FDLE's certificate process precedes a court petition, and the certificate alone does not seal a record.
Online retention also varies. The Sheriff offers a current roster without a published post-release retention period. FDC's release search preserves older state release records, while the BOP locator covers federal inmates released after 1982. The Clerk docket often remains after the brief roster entry is gone, unless a legal restriction changes access.
Gadsden Pretrial Release Records
Local court material adds an important limit to a bond search. Minutes from an April 2025 Public Safety Coordinating Council meeting said the jail's pretrial position was vacant and recruitment was underway. Apalachee Center representatives also described mental-health pretrial services that required a court order. Those statements are dated, so they do not prove current staffing or enrollment.
They do show why the judge's order and docket matter. A bond amount does not prove the person left the Gadsden County Jail. Conditions may need to be set, processed, or met, and another warrant or detainer may prevent community release. Use the court record to identify legal authority, then use the Sheriff's release or movement record to establish the physical out event.
Gadsden Jail Population Context
The Sheriff's corrections page reports an average population of 190 against capacity of 157. Separate FDC county-detention tables for June and July 2025 report an average daily population of 141 and mark the figure with an asterisk for incomplete or missing detail. The dates, methods, and cautions differ.
None is an annual release count. Population is a stock measure at a time or an average across days. It cannot be converted into how many Gadsden County inmates were released without a separate, sourced movement report.
Find Gadsden County Released Inmates
Begin with the system tied to the known booking. The official Sheriff Inmate Lookup leads to a current County Jail Roster, not a released-person archive. During research, its embedded bare-HTTP SmartWEB endpoint did not respond. A blank page or missing name is therefore not proof of release.
The official landing page shows how the Sheriff routes the current search.
The image confirms that “Inmate Booking” is a roster path and that no separate 24-hour or 72-hour released view is offered there.
- Check the Sheriff roster only for continued county-jail custody. Record “not found” without assuming why.
- Search the Gadsden Clerk criminal case for bond, disposition, sentence, jail credit, warrant, probation, or commitment entries.
- Use FDC Release Information, current population, and supervised population searches for a state path.
- Search the specific person through Florida VINE or register for a custody-change notice.
- Request the Sheriff's release and movement record if the online sources do not resolve the event.
- Use BOP, ICE, or a registry only when the known facts put the person within that system.
For a date-window request, the Gadsden County 24-hour release route explains how to ask for an existing report. A named-person search still requires identity checks and the custodian sequence above.
Gadsden Court Release Search
The Clerk's CourtScribe Public Inquiry is the durable local case search. It accepts party, filed-date, case-type, citation, case-number, and UCN criteria. The separate “Official Records” system indexes recorded instruments and is not the criminal docket.
The CourtScribe interface exposes the local search choices used to locate a release-related case.
Read docket events and filed orders after finding the case. A court order establishes legal authority, the Sheriff record establishes the local out event, and the receiving agency establishes any next custody.
A judge may order release while another hold blocks departure. Court authority and actual jail release time are related but distinct records.
FDC Gadsden Release Search
FDC separates current prison population from released inmates and supervised people. Open the Corrections Offender Information Network menu, then choose Inmate Release Information first for a past or scheduled state release. The form takes a six-character DC number, first and last name, an alias option, and photo controls. It updates nightly.
| Search field | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| DC number | Best unique state identifier | Six characters |
| First and last name | Returns beginning-name matches | Verify birth date and aliases |
| Alias option | Broadens identity search | Can add unrelated matches |
| Photo controls | Shows photo-only results or speeds lists | Detail page may still carry the photo |
The official release form shows the nightly state-release channel.
On a released detail, verify the DC number, identity, Release Date, and Date Out-Custody. Then search Supervised Population. A state-prison release can be followed by probation, parole, conditional release, or another control term.
FDC excludes county-jail-only and county-probation cases. A future Current Release Date is a projection subject to gain time, forfeiture, or review. The Gadsden County projected release page explains why that date can change.
Gadsden Release Alerts and Federal Records
Florida Statewide VINE covers participating county jails, FDC facilities, and juvenile justice events. Search one person through VINELink or call 1-877-846-3435, then compare the identifier and reporting agency. A custody-change notice is a prompt to verify the event with the custodian. It is not an archival list of every Gadsden County release, and a transfer can follow the reported change.
For sentenced federal custody, the BOP Inmate Locator accepts a register number or an exact name with optional identifying filters. Its results can show name, register number, age, race, sex, Release Date, and Location. A past date with no facility, or a status such as Released or Not in BOP Custody, ends BOP custody only. Another authority or federal supervised release may still follow.
The federal locator displays the release-date and location fields used for that separate custody class.
The image should not be read as a county jail record. BOP data updates daily, future dates can change, and “UNKNOWN” may reflect an undetermined term such as pretrial or unsentenced status.
Gadsden Release Reentry Support
The Sheriff's corrections page records two local handoffs. Chaplain Jimmy Salters assists people returning to the community in finding a church. It also says people who cannot finish jail education are encouraged to continue through Tallahassee Community College's Quincy House. These are documented navigation points, not a promise that each released person receives a place, service, or result.
They also do not prove release. The Sheriff's movement record still establishes when county custody ended. FDC records control a state discharge, and an active supervision record means a person may be outside confinement without being fully discharged from state control.
Gadsden Release or ICE Transfer
The Gadsden County Sheriff Department signed an ICE Warrant Service Officer 287(g) memorandum in February 2025. Under the program, certified local officers may execute ICE administrative warrants for people already in the agency's custody. An ICE detainer requests notice and limited continued holding so federal immigration authorities can assume custody.
That means release on the local criminal case can become a transfer rather than a return to the community. The Sheriff's movement record should identify the receiving path when public. ICE's Online Detainee Locator covers current detainees and certain recently released records within its stated limits. A negative result can reflect delay, exact-name mismatch, transfer, removal, an excluded record, or the end of the recent window.
No dedicated ICE detention facility was substantiated in Gadsden County. Do not turn a county roster disappearance into an ICE claim without a receiving-agency record.
Gadsden Release Search Systems
Each source has a defined coverage boundary. Use this comparison after identifying the custody class.
| System | Positive result means | Negative result does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Gadsden live roster | Current county-jail listing | Community release, due to transfer, lag, spelling, or downtime |
| Sheriff release record | Local out event and destination if maintained | That no offline agency file exists |
| Clerk criminal case | Legal authority, disposition, or sentence | The physical minute of release |
| FDC Release Information | State Release Date and out-custody history | A county-only release |
| FDC Supervised Population | Listed state community supervision | County or federal supervision status |
| VINE | Reporting custodian's status or change | Perfect delivery or a full archive |
| BOP locator | Federal release date or custody status | Freedom from another authority |
| ICE locator | Current or covered recent ICE record | Release, removal, or location outside its limits |
Can a person be released and still supervised? Yes. Confinement can end while probation, parole, conditional release, or another term remains active. Describe that status as released from confinement and under supervision, not fully discharged.
Gadsden County Release Facilities
Gadsden's custody landscape includes one adult county jail, a private-contract women's state prison, a state re-entry center, and an FDC annex. A regional juvenile detention center in Tallahassee also serves Gadsden youth. Geography alone does not identify the custodian.
- Gadsden County Jail: Sheriff booking, movement, and local release record.
- Gadsden Correctional Facility: FDC-controlled state-prison release for a private-contract women's facility.
- Gadsden Re-Entry Center: correctional placement where transfer is not the same as discharge.
- Quincy Annex: FDC records distinguish another institution location from an out-custody event.
- Leon Regional Juvenile Detention Center: restricted DJJ and juvenile-court channels, not an adult public roster.
OPPAGA describes Gadsden Correctional Facility's 1995 contract-prison origin and current role as Florida's private prison housing women. That local mix makes the label beside every search result essential. A Sheriff release and an FDC discharge are different events held by different agencies.
